ABOUT

WHAT IS
HAKATA UDON?

Hakata, in the Japanese city of Fukuoka, is considered to be one of the birthplaces of udon. It is said that a Rinzai monk introduced flour milling techniques to the people of Hakata in 1241 who then went on to create Hakata udon.

MADE FRESH EVERYDAY

Ichiryu specialise in delicious handmade noodles served to you fresh, using quality ingredients from Japan. Udon are thick and bouncy white noodles often served in a complementary stock. Everyday, our highly skilled chefs prepare our udon noodles from scratch using special udon flour, the key element of udon - to achieve great flavour and texture.

PREMIUM
DASHI BROTH

To accompany the soft and bouncy udon noodles, light, refreshing yet a depth of flavour bringing out the true taste of umami.

HEALTHY MEAL

Udon noodles are regularly enjoyed throughout Japan as a healthy, light and nourishing meal for either quick lunches or relaxed dinners. This is why we have introduced 3 different varieties for those living a healthier lifestyle; our regular udon noodles which are less than 200 calories, matcha udon which is packed with natural antioxidants and wholemeal udon which is great for keeping you energized and increases your intake of fibre.

HAKATA ROOTS

Ichiryu is the newest venture for entrepreneur Tak Tokumine, who founded Japan Centre in 1976. A Hakata native, Tak takes pride in being able to bring a piece of his hometown to London, allowing people from all walks of life to appreciate authentic high quality Japanese udon. Coupled with an executive chef who brings with him a wealth of experience drawn from having worked in udon restaurants in Fukuoka prefecture for many years, our Ichiryu team is excited to share our vast knowledge on the preparation and enjoyment of udon noodles.
